Booking Terms and Conditions
When booking a Taxi Test payment must be made at the time of booking.
Tests cannot be reserved and are not considered booked until paid for.
Test are booked on a first come first served basis.
When wanting to change or cancel a test 7 clear days must be given.
This does not include the day of your test
Otherwise you will loose your fee.
You may only change the test time and day a maximum of 2 times and must give 7 clear days.
Refunds can be requested at any time upon request proveded you give 7 clear working days.
The amount will be refunded to your account within 30 days of requesting the refund.
Please note that there is a £5.00 cancelation fee when canceling a test.
You May only book 1 test at a time and no more.
If you book 2 tests and you or we cancel 1 and you will be charged a £10.00 cancellation fee.
If you book 2 tests and then cancel 1 after passing the first, a £20.00 cancellation fee will be applied.
This is to make it fair for others wanting to book a test.
What you MUST bring with you for the test:
Your photocard driving licence.
If you have an old-style paper licence instead of a photocard, you must also bring a valid passport.
Failure to bring these will result in the test being cancelled and you will lose your fee.
You Vehicle must be road legal.
You Must have a valid insurance on the vehicle with a current MOT(if applicable) and road tax.
Examiners are not responcible for any damage or injury to the applicant or vehicle.
The Examiner will have a look around the vehicle prior to the test to make sure it is road legal.
Any defects on the vehicle that could be constituted not road worthy will be documented and the test will be cancelled and you will loose your fee.
The vehicle must be suitaable for the examiner to sit in, I.E rubbish or very dirty seats for the examiner.
Other rules for your vehicle for the taxi test / assessment
- Have no warning lights showing, eg the airbag warning light or engine management light
- Have no tyre damage and the legal tread depth on each tyre - you can’t have a space-saver spare tyre fitted
- Be smoke-free - this means you can’t smoke in it just before or during the test
- Be fit for the examiner to sit in. I.E rubbish, dirt or wet where the examiner will sit
- Be able to reach at least 62mph and have an mph speedometer
- Have 4 wheels and a maximum authorised mass (MAM) of no more than 3,500 kg - information will be in the car’s handbook
- You can not use a convertible car
- ALL Brake Lights and Indicators MUST be working. An examiner can ask for a demonstration of these working.
The test will be cancelled and you will lose your fee if these rules are not met
Tolerence policy.
Aggressive, abusive, threating or violent behaviour against the examiners or office staff will not be tolerated.
This includes the serious or persistent use of verbal abuse. Aggressive tone and/or language and swearing/foul language. Racial or sexual remarks. Malicious allegations relating to examiners or members of staff.
Offensive gestures or behaviours.
If any candidate shows signs of any of the above the examiner has the right to refuse or cancel a test and walk away. If an examiner refuses or cancels a test for any of these reasons then no refunds will be given.
If this happens at the end of the test the examiner will terminate the debriefing with the candidate and walk away.
The candidate will be banned from future tests with us and the authorities informed.
This could be the police or the local council.
Replacement Certificate
If you need a replacement certificate you would need to email us with your details.
Cost of a replacement is at our current rates.
We can only replace a certificate that was issued within 6 months, after which a new test would be required.
If a certificate has already been used by an council then a replacement cannot be issued and you would need to retake the test.
Cancelations of Test by Mitchells
We will always do our upmost to conduct the Taxi Driving Test.
However sometimes we may need to cancel your Taxi Test due to examiner illness or bad weather.
If this happens we will notify you at the earliest possible time.
We will re-book your test free of charge.
We will not pay any compensation for days off work, hire car or instructor fees.
Complaints
All complaints should at first be made to the conducting examiner
if you are still not satisfied please put in writing to either the Emial or the address shown below.
Complaints will be looked at on an individual basis and you will be informed of the decision.
You will have a right to reply and contest the decision and a separate panel will look at the complaint. After this our decision will be final.
